v1.2.0 Latest 25 May 2026

GlobalSpeak Plus

An optional subscription for those who want to support the platform and unlock extras — £4.99/month, cancel anytime. Includes an exclusive Plus badge on your profile, unlimited favourite servers, animated GIF profile picture, animated GIF profile banner, and animated GIF server banners & icons.

Shareable server URLs

Each server now has its own URL (globalspeak.net/server/:id). Servers are bookmarkable, refreshing keeps you in the right place, and links can be shared directly.

Offline status

You can now set your status to Offline. You stay connected but appear in the offline group in all member lists — useful when you want to be present without being disturbed.

Contact Us page

A dedicated Contact page lets you reach the team directly. Choose a subject category and we'll get back to you as soon as possible.

Real-time status updates in server member list

Changing your status now reflects immediately in the member list sidebar without requiring a page refresh or server rejoin.

Authentication and transport security improvements

Session tokens are now stored in HttpOnly cookies instead of browser storage, strengthening protection against token theft. We also tightened our Content Security Policy, reinforced real-time connection origin checks, and patched a server-side request issue in link previews.

v1.1.0 10 May 2026

Public staff page

A new Staff page lists all active GlobalSpeak team members, their roles, and their public profiles.

Message reporting system

Users can now right-click any message to report it. Reports are routed through a tiered moderation system and reviewed by staff.

v1.0.0 1 April 2026

GlobalSpeak launches

Initial public launch. Create an account, set up a server space, invite friends, and start chatting — for free.

Server Spaces with channels and categories

Create community hubs with organised text channels grouped into categories. Manage roles, permissions, and member access.

Direct messaging and friends system

Send direct messages to friends. Only accepted friends can message you — you are always in control of who can reach you.

AES-256 message encryption

All messages are encrypted in transit and at rest using AES-256. Moderation staff can access flagged content only when a report is reviewed.

Email verification on sign-up

Every new account requires email verification before gaining access to the platform, reducing spam and fake accounts.
